Hardin-Simmons University

Hardin-Simmons University is a private, Christian university located in Abilene, Texas. It was founded in 1891 by the Sweetwater Baptist Association and is affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Hardin-Simmons offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs across four colleges: College of Arts & Sciences, Logsdon School of Theology, Kelley College of Business, and the School of Social Work.

The university has a total enrollment of over 3,000 students from all 50 states and several countries around the world. Hardin-Simmons is known for its strong academic programs as well as its commitment to service learning and community engagement. The school also has an active Greek life with several sororities and fraternities on campus.

The campus is spread across several blocks in downtown Abilene and features many historic buildings as well as modern facilities. The most iconic building on campus is the Sandefer Memorial Tower which stands at the center of campus and serves as a symbol for the university’s commitment to excellence. Other notable buildings include Van Ellis Theatre, Mabee Hall, and Behrens Hall which are all listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Hardin-Simmons provides a variety of student services including career counseling, health services, disability services, tutoring services, library services and more. The university also has an active athletics program with teams competing in NCAA Division III in football, basketball, baseball/softball, soccer, volleyball and golf.
