Judson College

Judson College is a private, liberal arts college located in Marion, Alabama. Founded in 1838, it is the fifth-oldest women’s college in the United States. The school was founded as Judson Female Institute by members of the Siloam Baptist Church in Marion, Alabama. The school was named after Ann Hasseltine Judson, a missionary to Burma who had died in 1826.

The school opened its doors on January 3rd, 1838 with an enrollment of thirty-seven students. Throughout its history, Judson College has remained committed to providing a quality education for women. In 1920, the school became accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and began offering bachelor's degrees in 1923.

Today, Judson College offers more than twenty majors and minors in areas such as business administration, education, English literature, mathematics, music and theatre arts. Students can also choose from a variety of pre-professional programs such as pre-law and pre-medicine.

In addition to academics, Judson College offers a wide range of extracurricular activities for students to participate in such as intramural sports teams and student organizations like the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Campus Activities Board (CAB). The college also offers opportunities for community service through its Center for Community Engagement & Service Learning (CCESL).

Judson College has an active alumnae network that supports current students through scholarships and other forms of financial aid. Alumnae are also invited to attend special events throughout the year such as Homecoming Weekend or Alumnae Day.

The campus is located on over 70 acres of rolling hills and features modern academic buildings along with historic buildings such as Main Hall which dates back to 1838. The campus also includes two residence halls for students that provide comfortable living spaces complete with study areas and recreational facilities like basketball courts or sand volleyball courts.

Judson College has been educating young women since 1838 and continues to provide an excellent liberal arts education today.
