Judson College - AL

Judson College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in Marion, Alabama. Founded in 1838, it is the fifth oldest women’s college in the United States and the oldest women’s college in Alabama. The school was founded by members of the Siloam Baptist Church and named for Adoniram Judson, an American Baptist missionary to Burma. It is affiliated with the Alabama Baptist Convention and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

The campus covers over 100 acres and includes five residence halls, a library, a chapel, a performing arts center, an outdoor amphitheater, an athletic complex with a fitness center, tennis courts and a softball field. The school also offers various student organizations such as clubs, honor societies and student government. In addition to its academic programs, Judson College offers several extracurricular activities such as intramural sports teams and clubs.

Judson College offers bachelor's degrees in 38 majors including art history, biology, business administration, chemistry, communication studies, education studies (pre-K through 12th grade), English literature & writing studies (including creative writing), history & political science (including international relations), mathematics & computer science (including computer programming), music (including performance & theory), psychology & sociology (including social work) and theatre arts. In addition to its undergraduate programs, Judson College also offers master's degrees in education and nursing.

The school has an active alumni association that organizes several events throughout the year including reunions for graduates of all classes as well as special events for alumni living abroad or in different parts of the world. Alumni are also invited to attend lectures on campus or participate in career networking opportunities offered by the school’s Career Services Office.

Judson College has been consistently ranked among the top liberal arts colleges in the country by U.S News & World Report since 2005. It was also listed as one of only 10 colleges nationwide to be recognized for its commitment to diversity by Diverse Issues in Higher Education magazine from 2006-2009.
