Liberty University

Liberty University is a private, non-profit Christian university located in Lynchburg, Virginia. Founded in 1971 by the late Reverend Jerry Falwell, Liberty University is one of the largest Christian universities in the world. It has over 15,000 students enrolled on campus and more than 100,000 students enrolled online from all 50 states and over 80 countries.

Liberty University offers more than 550 programs of study from associate to doctoral level degrees. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and has been recognized as a top online college by U.S. News & World Report for its online bachelor’s degree programs. Liberty University also offers an honors program for high-achieving students and an adult learning program for working adults and military personnel.

The university has a variety of student organizations that offer spiritual growth opportunities, student leadership development, service projects, and social activities. Liberty also participates in Division I NCAA sports including football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer and track & field. The athletic teams compete in the Big South Conference as well as other conferences such as the Atlantic Sun Conference (soccer) and Big East Conference (lacrosse).

Liberty also has a rich history of spiritual growth with an emphasis on Biblical principles and values. The school requires all students to attend weekly chapel services called “Convocation” which are held every Tuesday morning at 10:00am EST in the Vines Center arena on campus. These services feature guest speakers from around the country who bring messages about faith and values that are applicable to students’ lives today.

The university also provides many other opportunities for spiritual growth including missions trips around the world through its Global Missions Program; mentoring opportunities through its Mentor Program; Bible studies; small group meetings; prayer meetings; retreats; conferences; worship services; leadership training seminars; student-led ministries such as Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU); Bible clubs; church planting initiatives through its Global Initiative Program (GIP); outreach programs such as Operation Christmas Child; evangelism training courses through its Evangelism Institute (EI); local service projects through its Service Learning Program (SLP); global humanitarian aid initiatives through its World Relief Program (WRP); and much more!
