Ouachita Baptist University

Ouachita Baptist University (OBU) is a private liberal arts college located in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Founded in 1886, OBU is the oldest institution of higher learning in the state and one of the oldest colleges west of the Mississippi River. The university is affiliated with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

OBU offers over 40 majors and concentrations, with popular areas of study including business administration, education, music, theatre arts, nursing and communication. The university also offers a variety of pre-professional programs such as pre-law, pre-medicine and pre-engineering. OBU also has a unique program called "The Ouachita Experience" which allows students to take advantage of educational opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. This includes internships, research projects and study abroad programs.

The campus of Ouachita Baptist University is situated on 200 acres in Arkadelphia and features many historic buildings including Brown Chapel, which was built in 1891. The campus also features modern facilities such as the Mabee Fine Arts Center, which houses an art gallery, theatre and music studios; the John W. Trotter House; and numerous athletic facilities including a football stadium, basketball arena and baseball field.

The student body at OBU consists of around 1,500 undergraduate students from all 50 states as well as several foreign countries. The student life at OBU is vibrant with over 70 student organizations ranging from academic to cultural to service organizations. There are also numerous intramural sports teams that compete against other schools throughout the region.

OBU has an impressive record when it comes to preparing students for their careers after graduation; 95% of graduates are employed or enrolled in graduate school within six months after graduation according to U.S News & World Report's 2021 rankings for Best Colleges for Undergraduate Teaching. Additionally, OBU was ranked #1 among Regional Universities South by U.S News & World Report for 2021 Best Colleges Rankings for Social Mobility - an impressive feat considering its small size!
