Washington Bible College

Washington Bible College (WBC) is a private, non-denominational Christian college located in Lanham, Maryland. It was founded in 1932 by the late Dr. J. B. Cook and his wife, Mrs. Lillian Cook, as a Bible school to provide students with an education grounded in biblical principles and a commitment to Christian values and service. The college offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Biblical Studies, Christian Ministry, Biblical Counseling, Missionary Studies, Education and Business Administration.

WBC is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). This accreditation means that Washington Bible College meets or exceeds the standards of excellence set forth by ABHE for its member institutions of higher learning. WBC is also approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) to offer degree programs at its Lanham campus.

At WBC, students are encouraged to pursue their academic goals within an environment of faith-based learning and spiritual growth. The college offers a variety of courses that emphasize biblical studies and spiritual formation through lectures, seminars and small group discussions. Students have access to library resources such as books, periodicals and software programs that support their studies in theology and ministry related fields.

The mission of Washington Bible College is “to equip men and women for effective Christian service through biblical teaching that emphasizes personal spiritual growth while providing an intellectually stimulating academic environment” The college seeks to provide students with a comprehensive education grounded in biblical principles so that they may be better equipped to serve God’s kingdom in their respective fields of study or ministry calling.

Washington Bible College provides several opportunities for students to engage in service-learning projects both locally and internationally through mission trips or volunteer work with local churches or organizations serving communities in need around the world. In addition, the college offers student leadership development programs such as mentoring initiatives, internships with local ministries or churches as well as student clubs dedicated to various social justice issues relevant to our current cultural context.
